Coworking Evolution: Coworking goes “Free Coworking”

Yes it is true. Coworking is going to evolve into “Free Coworking”. I predict that within the coming year you will see a marked increase in “Free Coworking” offers. What do I mean by “Free Coworking”?  ”Free Coworking” means that as a coworking space user you do not pay for the use of the desk, chair etc. How is that possible? Someone else is going to pay :-) !!! Why would anyone want to pay for your coworking space usage? Because “this someone else” is benefiting from your work. This might be a customer or client, a member of your project team, an organisation, a small or large cooperation, a foundation, the state – in short “Financial Capital” will pay the bill.

Gaynor Pates , Free Coworking Starter (see Free Coworking Directory) wants to offer a combination of coworking and creche for free. It is called “Work Free”. The idea is “to enable parents and children to benefit from this growing and progressive trend” [of coworking]. “Work Free exists not just to build a business, but to make a difference to parents by enabling them to learn from, and connect with others that can help them achieve a better balance between work and family.” Please support her survey, if you are a “PARENT (or expecting!) of one or more children aged 0-4, you feel that your CHILDCARE arrangements could be IMPROVED if you had more time / money / flexibility, and you live in the UK!” Thx!!!

Add your skill-oriented-network to the “Free Coworking Skill Sharing” (Today): CocoaHeads

There are so many skill-oriented networks that would benefit from linking up with the coworking movement. These networks like CocoaHeads are very well organized and have a global reach, but in many instances lack a physical infrastructure, like a coworking space. Devoted to a particular programming language, tool or environment like CocoaHeads with the Cocoa Framework for programming on MacOS X, these networks are also very interesting for people already working or intending to work in a coworking space.
