Starting on April 1st, 2013, “Made in the Lower East Side” (miLES) partner with Fourth Arts Block to open the first miLES storefront at FABWORKS. Located at 75 E 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave, the storefront will offer  an array of programs including coworking on weekdays, classes and events on weeknights, and pop-up shops on the weekend. The growth of free coworking that I predicted at the beginning of last year is also showing very strongly this year. A very good indicator is the Google graph for coworking and free coworking that was produced by Google today (see snapshot below):

Bitte beschreibt Euch kurz. Wie kam es zur Entstehung des Netting, was sind Eure Grundüberlegungen?

Während eines Projekts, in dem Startups und Gründungsinteressierte betreut und beim Netzwerken unterstützt wurden, kam das Thema Coworking Space hervor. Denn durch dieses Projekt hatten Startups die Möglichkeit, günstig und flexibel voll ausgestattete Büros im Technologiepark Paderborn zu nutzen. Dadurch konnten sie ihre Geschäftstätigkeit unter realen Bedingungen testen. Außerdem erleichterten die Nähe zu anderen Firmen und das Veranstaltungsangebot im Park den Aufbau erster/weiterer Kontakte. Die Büros waren gefragt, zudem häuften sich die Anfragen nach kurzfristig nutzbaren Arbeitsplätzen. Durch den Coworking Space Netting im Technologiepark, dem Startup-Büros unmittelbar angeschlossen sind, möchten wir das Networking intensiver unterstützen.  

CoWorking News is very happy to announce and support the start of the empirical Coworking Study of the two psychologists Julia Andorfer (for Master Thesis) and Cornelia Gerdenitsch (for PhD) at the University of Vienna today.

Cornelia and Julia are trying to find answers to the following questions: Is entrepreneur’s engagement boosted by social support? How is it possible that coworkers develop so many new creative ideas in Coworking Spaces? What makes them successful in implementing these ideas in start ups?
