Technology and Design can be fun: A vision transcends a company

Earlier we looked at the legacy of Steve Jobs. If you look at what the competition of Apple is doing you get an idea of the influence of him and his team. One very nice example of what this looks like is the brand new HTC Sensation XL. It is not just the apple design elements (slim & sleek, understatement with white and silver, pleasing to the eye and hand, combined with colour and reference to nature with the sun, instead of an apple ;-) which makes this smart phone look like an apple product. It is the way the phone is presented in the video below (top in German, but you do not need to understand what the guy is saying, just look at how the product is presented, below there is the English Version too) which shows: Technology and Design can be fun and pleasing. Thank you Apple and Steve Jobs!!!

Project of the Week>>> Joint communication initiative

In relation to our second birthday yesterday and as a general coworking challenge I like to launch the “Joint communication initiative for coworking”. Coworking never sleeps, so it would be very useful to give local coworking correspondents in every time zone access to the CoWorking News site to write and publish their articles. The successful launch of the “Open International CoWorking Calendar” provides a strong argument, that this can work very well.

Berlin erhält einen weiteren Coworking Space in Charlottenburg: CoworkINN . Damit hat Berlin jetzt mehr als ein Dutzend Spaces. Super!!!

Bitte beschreibt Euch kurz.

“Awesome Foundation” and “Kickstarter” get your project implemented

Yesterday I presented the “Awesome Foundation“. If you have a “crazy brilliant idea” there is a good chance they will reward you with  $1,000 to start your project. As $1,000 will not get you very far in most cases you will need additional funding. One of these additional sources could be “Kickstarter” that we also presented before. Now here is a project that used both of these sources successfully: “Scarf-a-day“. On the 27th of December 2010, Meredith Scheff was awarded the $1,000 by the “Awesome Foundation“. As she found the need for additional funding she also set up a Kickstarter project on the 1st of January 2011 for another $1,000. There she wrote : “This project is the recipient of an Awesome Foundation grant, but I need help to really pull this off with style.” And she did!!! At Kickstarter she raised $1,538 in 7 days. With more than $2,500 she produced the 31 scarves she set out for. At her blog, you can have a look at all of them with some background information. This is the one I like best :-) Enjoy and get inspired!!!
