Dear Coworking Community,

every year, in a continuously changing world, XMAS may ask us the question what part religion, faith, values and beliefs play in our daily lives.

Sharon Brous in her TED Talk in October 2016 „It’s time to reclaim religion“ tried to answer this question. She highlights four topics namely Wakefulness, Hope, Mightiness and Interconnectedness.

I believe these topics ring very true with the coworking community, that is why I like to share her talk with you.

There is a lot happening in Free Coworking at the moment. Two articles on fastcoexist. com and fastcompany.com respectively sparked a lot of interest. The first article dates from the 29th of January 2015 on the Swedish Free Coworking Project Hoffice, the second from the 2nd of April 2015, on Several Free Coworking Projects where you pay with Social Capital.

In the last article, the question is raised whether Free Coworking is really free (whatever free may mean in different contexts (money, beliefs etc.)?

Last year I gave you a short rundown of what happened in the first four years.

How Coworking can get massive inspiration from the success of Linux and Wikipedia

Many people regard Linux today as the most successful operating system in the world. Just a few facts: Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Ebay etc. run their systems on Linux. 90% of today’s 500 fastest supercomputers run some variant of Linux, including the 10 fastest. That is what I call a success story!!! And the special thing about Linux: It is free and open source! But Linux does not stop there. You will find Linux in new televisions, in car entertainment systems and in telephones. This month saw the premiere of the Ubuntu Smart Phone Operating System at CES in Las Vegas. And Ubuntu (you guessed it) is based on Linux and it stands for: „the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity“. And of course this is what Linux, Wikipedia and Coworking are all about!
