Slowly, slowly the year is drawing to an end. Time to look at what we have achieved this year and where we want to get better next year. We like to invite all coworking spaces and coworkers in a short series of articles to share with us their personal achievements of 2012 and to look ahead at their goals for 2013. As a little inspiration we like to present to you a new coworking space in Hamburg (places hamburg) which doubles as a coworking space and event location. It is particularly strong on interior design ideas. Well have a look for yourself.  

As a change agent for creativity and coworking I believe it is time to take coworking to the next level. As their are some spaces that are very beautiful and inspire creativity, there are some that are happy to offer not much more than a chair and a desk. Sitting and writing is very important, but there is a lot more required to enable a coworking space to be creative as a whole. In this series I like to look at all aspects that foster individual as well as group creativity in a coworking space. When people think of creativity very often they think of colours or a colourful environment. Colours are very important as they provoke an emotional response. We need to be in tune with our emotions when we want to be creative as individuals. More importantly we need to be aware of our emotions if we want to relate to and create successfully with our coworkers. The wider the ranger of colours in our environment, the wider the range of emotional responses. Natural colours and natural materials usually offer a wider range of tones or colour shades than artificial ones.  

This excellent New York Times article was discovered by coINLoftDe. The article shows how important coworking can be for all professions, in this case for cooks and “culinary entrepreneurs”.  One of the users of Entrepreneur’s Space, on 37th Street near Northern Boulevard, New York says: “There are a lot of career-changers here, a lot of casual gourmets who channelled their energies into cooking as a way to make money.” I think this is great and I hope that many similar offers will open up soon. Seth Bornstein, executive director of the Queens Economic Development Corporation, which invested $100,000 in the venture, describes the kitchen as “a laboratory in taking chances.”  

Was ich mir von meinem Arbeitsplatz in einem Coworking Space wünsche ist ein Design, dass es mir erlaubt den Raum und die unmittelbare Umgebung an meine persönlichen Bedürfnisse und Emotionen anpassen zu können. Wie können diese Emotionen besonders stark beeinflußt werden? Durch Inszenierung, durch Lichtführung!

Der Architekt und Designer Hadi Teherani bringt dies auf den Punkt, wenn er sagt: “Gerade dort, wo Menschen zusammenarbeiten, nicht nur, um Informationen auszutauschen, sondern um innovative Ideen zu entwickeln, muss Licht die Sinne ansprechen und Wohlbehagen auslösen. Nur eine atmosphärisch und ergonomisch stimmige, dem Tagesablauf und den Jahreszeiten folgende Lichtführung schafft die optimale Basis für Wahrnehmung, Kommunikation, Kooperation und Kreativität.”  

Der Design Blog hat sie gefunden, die scheinbar besten tragbaren Workstations  für mobile Arbeiter.  Wer sich also zu Weihnachten noch etwas wünschen möchte, etwa von seinem Arbeitgeber, dem oder der Liebsten,  der werfe doch einmal einen Blick auf die formschönen, teilweise ergonomisch sinnvollen Workstations, die auch der Web Urbanist noch um einige Exemplare unter: Geeky Temptation: 16 Slick, Sick, or Stunning Workstations  ergänzt hat.
